On behalf of the General Manager!

Hello all,

What a busy time at the club as preparations continue for the start of the golfing season.  Much of this work is taking place on the course as Andy and the team knuckle down completing the project work before the planned spring renovation. I completed a course walk with Andy yesterday and I am amazed at the amount of work they have produced, going above and beyond the original plan to tackle problem areas particularly bunkers.

It is clear that as this work beds in the course will be greatly improved and I hope you are all excited about the changes being made.  Next week is the start of our greens maintenance program which will involve some disruption. The good news is this will be less aggressive than in previous years and Andy has decided to only solid tine not hollow core this spring. This will allow for a much quicker recovery and the 40-60 ton of top dressing will fill the holes and dilute the build up of thatch. Our recent soil samples have shown that over the last 12 months the work done on the greens has had a positive effect and an ongoing program of aeration and dressing will keep the greens healthy, meaning quality putting surfaces.

Following the redecoration of parts of the clubhouse we are eagerly awaiting the refurbished bar furniture and the carpet cleaning to give us a fresh feel as we kick off the golfing season. This Wednesday we are carrying out some major repairs on the boiler, so if you have occasionally experienced temperamental temperatures the problem will be fixed imminently.

Some of you may have heard that Keith Bond after many years of heading up the Academy has decided to move on. Keith has made a massive contribution to the club during his time and leaves a legacy of a fantastic junior academy and more recently the successful par 3 competitions. I would personally like to thank Keith for his years of dedication to the club and wish him all the best in his new venture. Jo Oliver, in her role of Golf Development Professional will be continuing Keith’s good work and has many exciting plans to take the academy forward. If you want to find out more please see Jo’s article in this newsletter.

With less than a month to go until the Masters I am feeling really excited about the season ahead. The course is in the best place it has been coming out of winter, we have had investment, work is happening in the clubhouse, we have a strong group of Captains to lead our sections and Jo is having great success with her member engagement events.

Let’s get the 2017 golfing season underway!

Kind regards,
Tim Hudson

A Message from our Golf Development Professional...
Dear Members,
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Keith for all his hard work over these many years resulting in a successful junior academy. There are many more juniors and adults playing the game due to his passion and enthusiasm for bringing the game to so many new golfers.
As part of my Golf Development Professional role, I will now be over seeing the Academy Program. The new “Golf Hub” Team will be continuing to deliver the full program of coaching both for juniors and adults. This includes our daily junior program, weekly Roll Ups, Par 3 Comps both for adults and the Junior Lannocks Lions.
In addition to this we have now become a Golf Foundation, Golf Roots Centre. This means we will be delivering The Junior Golf Passport. This is the Golf Foundation’s national structured learning programme for children aged 6-12 years, endorsed by the PGA.
Under our guidance, involvement in the programme will help to transform complete beginners into junior golfers ready for regular play or membership at the club.
The Passport offers both an attractive paper booklet to be completed by child and Coach and a user-friendly interactive website ( for the same purpose.
As a team we will look forward to working with our many members and visitors over the months to come, should you have any questions regarding the academy please do not hesitate to contact me.
